Walking and running are excellent ways to stay in shape all year-round. These basic workouts are convenient, feasible almost anywhere and require only a good pair of shoes. All you need is to visit our fantastic place!
What is hiking
The term “hiking” implies an activity that occurs in the midst of nature, specifically on a trail, in a creek bed, on a mountain or through the woods. Because of the terrain, hiking is almost always more physically challenging than walking, and burns more calories (around 350-400 per hour) as a result.
Where to practice
The most effective routes for walking/running are those with varied terrain: flat levels for a steady pace; gentle hills for a challenge; and steep slopes, which are more demanding on the way up and require better balance on the way down.
Walking up a hill with 15% slope uses about a third more energy than walking on a flat surface, while walking downhill takes about the same energy as walking on level ground, unless the hill is very steep, in which case your muscles must work harder to keep your balance.
Trail in our estate
We have a trail of half an hour for the ones who just want to have a taste of the real nature.
The full trail is an hour hike: it ends at the highest point of our estate at 600 m. of altitude. You will be welcomed by a stunning scenary which views extend from the Chania gulf to Platanias and Kolimbari. You will feel the silence of nature and the aroma of wild herbs such as oregano, thyme, sage, lavender.
